Some of the most amazing things we witness are the tender moments and touches of humanity. People helping people, so counter to the “other side” of us, looking after ourselves to the point of disregard of the welfare of others; counter to God’s proclamations of love and respect.
In His hometown, “Jesus was amazed at their unbelief,” limiting the possible opportunities for miracles. God revealed this heart-thought, “I will rejoice over Jerusalem and delight in My people.” Would Jesus not say of this very town loved by His Father, “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones God’s messengers! How often I have wanted to gather your children together as a hen protects her chicks beneath her wings;” a plea from Heaven on earth, again revealing His love, amazing grace. Yet Jesus concludes, “but you wouldn’t let me.”
Father, especially in this Holy Week of observing Your own amazing grace toward us as we review the sacrifice of Your Son, we ask Your forgiveness, based not on our sacrifices but on His blood, as “Without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness.” In this time of His passion, fill us with the spirit of believing, enabling Your Spirit’s peace and passion, miracles to and through us.
May the words, “but you wouldn’t let Me” not be aimed at you, rather believing, that you experience His very amazing grace.
