It’s almost funny, the one-liners we hear, lines of thought from others. One one-liner came to my mind, again, just recently. I didn’t personally appreciate the political overtone, but It is a classic. “Smile more, talk less.” It is a wise saying, being confident of God’s sovereignty, yet disciplined in our speech, as God had His writer record, “Don’t be hasty in bringing matters before God. After all, God is in heaven, and you are here on earth. So let your words be few.” Smile more, talk less. You may remember your own first (or later) one-liner. I remember hearing from the stage, “I crack myself up!” One of my favorites is, “Have a little faith, baby!”
“John the Baptist saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” One could say this one-liner was John’s purpose statement, announcing Jesus as the awaited Messiah.
Father, thank You for Your many and faithful one-liners; statements of facts and truths, beginning
with, “I show you My great love by sending Christ to die for you while you were still sinners.” And Jesus saying on His departure, “I am
with you always;” having revealed Him as Your own Son.
Learn to live the one-liners from the Giver of life itself, “Pursue peace;”and, while you’re at it, “Have a little faith, baby!”
